How to Get a Passport?
Obtaining a passport can be a simple process, but travelers should note that it is a good idea to start the process as early as possible. Although you can obtain a passport somewhat quickly if you need to, there are fees associated with expedited service . 1. Where to get a passport? Passports can be obtained at government buildings, including post offices, any local Municipal Court or Municipal Building,most District Court buildings, and most neighborhood service centers. Check with the passport service online to locate the best information on where to get a passport and additional passport and visa services in your area.You should pay attention that if you are applying for a passport for the first time, you must apply in person. 2. What you need to bring? Before you go down to the passport acceptance facility, you need to make sure you have the following: a. Proof of citizenship: A previous passport or birth certificate will suffice as proof of citizenship. You will also need to provideproper ID, such as a driver’s license or Government or Military ID. b. Photos: In order to apply, you need to have two passport pictures made.The identical photos must be 2 inches by 2 inches and taken within the last 6 months. The pictures must offer a full, frontal view of your face, from the top of your head through your shoulders. The photo must be taken with a plain white background. Many post offices, photo studios and mail box locations take passport photos for a nominal fee. If you are also applying for a Visa, you will need additional photos. c. Payment: The actual form of payment (i.e. cash, check, orcharge) varies depending on the location. Call ahead and verify what form of payment they require. 3. How long does it take to get a passport? Once you apply for a passport, you should expect to receive the passport in the mail within 6 weeks.It is a good idea to apply for your passport as early as you possibly can. If you need your passport sooner, you can get it within 2 weeks by applying for expedited service as I have mentioned at the beginning. But you have to pay additional fee for such service.
